For Mom...
One of the greatest things my late mother and I have done together was to start the nativity ministry. The purpose of this ministry was to share the love of Jesus Christ and the purpose for the Christmas season. We would get excited when we each found a nativity scene that was unusual or had an interesting story behind it.
My mother was a true servant. Anyone who knew her could attest to that. A native of Camden County, she was an active member in her church, First Presbyterian Church of St. Marys, GA. She served on several boards and committees over the years as well as serving as a Deacon and Elder. She also volunteered at the Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus in the gift shop.
She never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. She always had a smile and a hug waiting for you. She was always there to welcome new folks to church and caring to those in need. Many times over the years, I knew she helped folks out, but I was completely touched by the number of people that reached out to me after her passing to let me know what an impact she had made on their lives. She was never one to tell what she had done to help others.
I hope you were blessed to know my mother. I truly feel she taught me how to have a servant’s heart as well. We created this ministry to start conversations about the true meaning of Christmas and to share the free gift of salvation from God to others in a unique way. We were amazed at how much it had grown over the years.
When I decided to continue this ministry after my mom’s passing, God truly stepped in and has guided it to what He wants it to be. He has placed opportunities and blessings in my path that I know only come from Him. I am fortunate to have my daughter, Ashley, help out with this growing ministry as well. I pray you are able to attend a display, whether in person or virtually, and are impacted by the love God has for you. He loves each and every one of us.
The display each year will always have a place of honor for my mother and her service to others.
God Bless,
Wendy
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
